Set design is one of the unsung arts of movie making. Do it wrong and the audience is sure to think the movie is cheap and low budget. Do it right and most people don't notice it at all. But that is the point -- the best sets aren't flashy or expensive, they simply fit naturally into the scene.

Study the script. The script the most important part of a movie. It information about the story, characters, plot and all the things that in the movie. Studying the script thoroughly you an idea about how the set . Take detailed notes on the script, making a list of the following:
• The setting. This the time period, geography, and ambiance.
• Crucial background props. What props in the script? What parts of the scene do the character to with (a TV, an oven, the blinds, etc.)?
• The mood of the script. Comedic and light? Dark and serious? Somewhere in between? This will profoundly your color choices.
• How many characters to fit into the space. If it too big, the actors can by the space, but if it is too small it awkward to film in. Remember, you can also space size as a stylistic or symbolic element.
• Will the location to be designed from the ground up (like a spaceship) or can they from pre-set locations, such as a house?
